LISTEN: Dropout has increased during Covid-19 lockdowns and we need to take action

Rahima Essop, Head of Communications and Advocacy at the Zero Dropout Campaign, speaks to Radio 786 about how the learner dropout rate has increased during the Covid-19 lock down. Now, more than ever, we need an urgent and sustained approach to reducing dropout. Absent learners need to be tracked and traced so that they can be reintegrated into school. The longer it takes to get learners back to class, the less likely they are to return.
