LISTEN: The impact of Covid-19 on dropout, and the need to track and trace learners.

Before the pandemic, four out of ten learners who started school would drop out before completing matric. New data shows that an additional 500 000 learners are estimated to have dropped out during the pandemic. Rahima Essop, Head of Communications and Advocacy at the Zero Dropout Campaign, speaks to Power Weekend Breakfast host Pabi Moloi about this issue. The longer it takes to get our learners back to class, the less likely they are to return.
