LISTEN: Why are learners dropping out of school and how do we prevent this?

Merle Mansfield, Programme Director of the Zero Dropout Campaign, joins Smile FM to reflect on the 2021 Matric results. Mansfield congratulates those who managed to pass their matric exams and notes the incredibly difficult circumstances under which they did. However, she asks listeners to also be mindful of the many learners who did not make it to matric at all. She notes that only around 60% of our learners make it through our system and that we need to understand why this is happening in order to prevent school dropout.
