Reading for Meaning at School

Did you know that eight out of ten learners in Grade 4 cannot read for meaning in any language? They are missing some of the crucial building blocks of literacy and this causes setbacks in their learning journey. Falling behind academically is a strong predictor of dropout. Reading for Meaning was launched in 2019 as an after-school programme to help learners who need extra support with their literacy skills.
