Yethu means ‘our’ in isi-Xhosa, a fitting name for a network of schools, united to combat school dropout. Yethu is about unlocking the potential of South Africa’s children, one school at a time. The values of the network are expressed in a manifesto that all schools are encouraged to support. The manner in which Yethu principles are practiced depend entirely on the creativity and enthusiasm of each school in the network. By sharing these practices and experiences, schools are able to learn from each other and benefit from a pool of collective knowledge.
