This past week, the Teaching at the Right Level (TaRL) programme celebrated a significant milestone with graduation ceremonies at Kagisano Combined School in Soutpan, Danielskuil Intermediate School and Tshomarelo Primary School in Dealesville, Free State. Held on 2 and 3 December, these events brought together learners, facilitators, and school staff to honor the remarkable progress made by the children who participated in the TaRL sessions. The ceremonies were a heartwarming testament to the power of education and community as learners proudly shared their achievements, from improving their literacy and numeracy skills to building confidence in their abilities.
What made the events even more special were the heartfelt stories from the learners themselves. Many spoke about their excitement upon learning they would be enrolled in the programme, recalling who they shared the news with first—beaming parents, siblings, and caregivers who offered unwavering support. These moments underscored the vital role that families play in fostering a love for learning and ensuring children thrive. To keep with the spirit of TaRL, the ceremonies began with familiar icebreakers, infusing the room with energy and joy before the school implementers and facilitators expressed their gratitude and handed out certificates to each proud graduate.
As learners held their certificates high, it was clear that the programme has left an indelible mark not only on their education but also on their sense of self-worth. These celebrations were a beautiful reminder of how a collaborative approach to education can empower young minds and create ripples of positivity within families and communities.
